Baylee

At the beginning of Spring Break, we took a 24-hour trip to Iowa. We were in the car slightly longer than we were actually at Josh's parents house, but it was so fun to see the Hammans and spend time with Baylee. Baylee is my little dog. We are not allowed to have her here on campus, so Josh's parents are keeping her for us. They have been so kind to take such great care of her. We recently found out that her liver is failing. The vet said she could live a few more days or a few more months. It is very sad.

I rescued Baylee 5 years ago from a shelter in Dallas, Texas. I got her just a few short weeks after my dad died, and she was such a great little companion through not only my grief, but also my adventures in Colorado and Virginia. She has been the best little dog I have ever had!

So when we found out she was sick we knew we had to go visit her, even if was just for a few hours.

  1. Of course, I have tears in my eyes as I read this Kim. At my age, I've had lots of dogs and some that were incredibly dear to me but Baylee has been, for me, a gift directly from heaven. I was so lonely without really knowing it when you honored me with her. Being home with cancer for two years was taking its toll even though I am not prone to depression. Paul works long hours and out here in the country your just ALONE. Baylee came and became my happy little companion. She is a perfect little pal. Totally well trained, affectionate, quite or active--whatever you want to do, she's game. It is heartbreaking to have her unwell. We took her with us last week to Arkansas and one night I slept on the floor with her as she couldnt' be in the bed at Mom's. My mom was wonderful to her but dogs in bed is just something they don't do. She loved the trip--all the walks in gardens, parks and woods. She doesn't seem sick yet so we are trying to make the days count, praying for miracles and thanking God for a dear companion in our lives like Baylee. I'm so glad you came to see her. There could not be a better dog.
